Exception PCB Installs Schmoll Speedmaster Drilling Machine
Exception PCB has installed a new Schmoll Speedmaster drilling machine, adding capacity and improving accuracy across our PCB drilling operation with six stations, T200 spindles, and automated accuracy monitoring.
Exception PCB has added a Schmoll Speedmaster to our drilling operation, strengthening our capacity to handle a wide range of board types with consistent precision and throughput.
SPECIFICATION AND CAPABILITY
The Speedmaster features six drilling stations, each equipped with T200 spindles running air bearing technology. This combination supports high-speed drilling whilst maintaining the accuracy and quality our customers require. The machine handles panel sizes up to 635 x 714mm, covering a broad range of board formats and applications.
The granite base provides exceptional stability throughout the drilling process, dampening vibration and contributing to consistent hole quality across the full panel.
ONLINE ACCURACY CHECK
One of the key features of the Schmoll Speedmaster is its OAC (Online Accuracy Check) system, a development of established contact drilling technique. The machine performs automated self-audits, measuring spindle offset from its zero position and applying compensation on the next programme run. The results of each check are logged, giving our engineering team a reliable and consistent way to monitor machine performance over time.
This removes reliance on manual checks and adds a further layer of process control to our drilling operation.
PART OF OUR WIDER INVESTMENT PROGRAMME
This installation is part of Exception PCB's ongoing investment in manufacturing technology across our Tewkesbury facility.
